couple more ?'s about the drag kit

In the Gen III they give you a air filter... now, hooking it up is somewhat adventurous.. I notice I have a ~90 degree coupler, (thick that has DRAG on it) and another pipe left over that is also ~90.. well, is this what is left for the air filter assembly? If so, I can't figure out how to make it work and be able to shut the hood still! Am I somehow supposed to go under the radiator hose?

Also, I got like 5 red hose joiners and 3 blue... where do the blue ones get used only for the air filter assembly stuff?

The install of going ok so far, except for the dealer telling me my oil pan was made of aluminum and lo and behold it's steel, great, wasted time to fabricate an aluminum pipe!

Is the big coupler blk and made of rubber? If so that goes between the pipping on the passenger's side of the intercooler and the pipe to the throttle body. There should be a 45 degree pipe that says DRAG on it, this piece connects to the turbo via large hose joiner then the filter on the other end.

both the 90 deg. bends are for the filter...
one is cast alum., and the other is chrome steel...

I used the chrome one right off the turbo then pointing up, then I attached the small cast 90 facing the abs and the filter goes on there, rigt in front of the abs thing...

I also have seen people use the small one off the turbo and the big one on top (configured basically the same)... works either way, just try both and see which one fits better on your car

12SecGSR - do the kit come with 2 pipes with for the air filter? Mine only came with one, I guess Drag forgot to send me the other one. I was able to fit the air filter between the radiator fan and the turbo with just one, but it is a tight fit. If you have a pic of your set up can you email it to me?

I know I know... but the dealer said it was aluminum!!! I'm sorry, I nod my head in shame

12secgsr - I tried that, but the radiator hose gets right in the way, how did you get around that?

on mine, I used the chrome tube off the turbo because it was longer... it goes past the radiator hose, then turns up..
unfortunately I dont have a digital camera.. or even a camera to let me post a pic
